Good morning all,
I am late yet again! I am so sorry to be posting on a Thursday, and I will keep trying to be better and post on my promised WordPress Wednesdays. I got caught up in writing, and studying Nonviolent Communication, as well as spending some virtual time with friends. Next week, I will be on top of it!
Yesterday I worked on my Camp NaNoWriMo writing project. Since it is a historical novel, there is the temptation while drafting to research a LOT, and get caught up in it (I LOVE research!). But, if I get too caught in research, then I wouldn’t be hitting my quota of 800+ words a day. So, I do the essential research I need to write a scene, i.e. outfit styles, hairstyles, big historical happenings, but I don’t put in more time researching than writing.
It is my plan to go back over the novel quite a few times with a fine-tooth comb, as they say. I know I am making some inaccuracies in the rough draft, and I hope to fix them up in later drafts. I am also keeping tabs on some things that needs changing, such as a certain character needing more scenes to matter to the reader and help the plot, etc. But – it’s rough drafting! So, kindof like online shopping, I’m doing a “save for later”.
How are your current writing projects going?

Maybe it’s just me, or maybe it’s my anti-allergies Benadryl before bed, but I’ve been having some really weird, vivid dreams lately! Last night I dreamt that my father, now deceased, was living in a jungle and was on trial for something. Dream-me insisted on being at his trial, because he had cancer (just like in reality) and, I wanted to be there to support him, and spend all the time with him. So strange how my consciousness knows he has passed away, and won’t let me have a dream without Dream-me knowing it.
Since my dreams sometimes have fantastical, cool ideas in them, I’ve researched dream journaling. There are some pretty nifty web pages out there about it, including this one from a witchcraft website. Check it out!
Do you have vivid dreams that are like watching movies while you sleep? Do they ever inspire your stories? Please share in the comments!
I’d love to hear about your Camp NaNoWriMo experiences so far, dream journaling or writing, or anything else you’d like to share about reading or writing.
Until next time,
